Pool Barrier Compliance & Australian Standards Update

The backyard swimming pool is an important recreational Australian icon. The lifestyle benefits of a swimming pool are many – relaxation, entertainment, exercise, aesthetics, a social hub for the kids and much more. All States and Territories require that swimming pools and spas have barriers installed that comply with AS1926.1. Unfortunately, the complexity in the way industry and local governments interpret this Standard can vary and be very subjective. SPASA Australia will provide an overview of the present Standard and an insight into changes that may come from the current review.

Spiros is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Swimming Pool and Spa Association of Australia. Cal Stanley

Cal Stanley has spent more than 37 in the swimming pool industry – the first 31 constructing concrete pools and the last 6 as a consultant advising primarily on concrete pools up to 25m in length. Cal has a Cert IV in training and has written more tha 30 articles on concrete pools for SPLASH magazine.
